The Ryoyo Group supports “Pilgrimage Route Environmental Conservation Activities for 100,000 Participants,” a campaign run by Wakayama Prefecture to help protect and utilize the “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range,” a World Heritage site. On November 8 and 9, 2019, new Ryoyo employees hired that year took part in a related restoration activity, the Kumano Kodo Michi Bushin Walk.

This restoration activity is being conducted under the guidance of Wakayama Prefecture (World Heritage Center, and Tanabe City Board of Education). It is the only program in Japan that allows ordinary citizens to participate in the conservation of a World Heritage site. The Ryoyo employees worked to help preserve an ancient pilgrimage route with their own hands, helping to preserve it for future generations. In activities like these, employees can be proud of how the Ryoyo Group provides real value to society. After performing restoration work on part of the Kumano Kodo route, the next day the employees hiked along the same pilgrimage route with a guide.

The route is a cultural asset that Japan is preserving for the world, and the Ryoyo Group will continue to support this effort. (Activities have since been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
